Benefit from TIBCO Spotfire Server REST APIs with the new release 5.2 of the Discngine Connector

In Spotfire release 7.13, TIBCO added this nice feature allowing developers to control Spotfire Automation Services via a new REST API endpoint (What’s new in Spotfire 7.13). Then in Spotfire 10.2 was introduced a new REST API endpoint to let external applications upload SBDF-formatted data to the Spotfire library (What’s new in Spotfire 10.2). With the new release 5.2 of the Discngine Connector, both REST APIs are accesible seamlessly from within Pipeline Pilot.

New REST API Integration for Automation Services

In prior versions of the Connector, the creation and control of Automation Services Jobs required the installation of a Windows executable on the Pipeline Pilot server. Therefore, it was not possible to use this feature on Linux based Pipeline Pilot server. This problem is now adressed with a new component “Automation Services Run Job with Rest API”

Automation Services Job execution from within Pipeline Pilot

Quick reminder, the Discngine Connector module “Automation Services for Pipeline Pilot” lets developers design and create an entirely new Spotfire DXP document from the execution of a protocol server side. This includes the creation of data tables, pages or charts and can be extended by the use of IronPython snippets. Spotfire end-users can then be notified by email when the document is ready. This mechanism is suitable for use cases implying recurrent long running jobs and scheduled creation of dynamic/parametrized Spotfire Dashboards.

Library Upload REST API integration for SBDF Data files

A new SBDF Writer component is available in the Pipeline Pilot Collection. It writes and uploads SBDF Data Files directly into the Spotfire Library. Therefore providing a secure and consitent way to prepare data files as well as augmenting the reading performance for the Web Player clients. Authentication uses OAuth 2.0.

SBDF Writer component benefits:

  • Secured data files

  • Centralized repository

  • Reading performance increase for Web Player users

  • Managed Data Types (guessed or forced)

  • Supports binary files (images, molecules…)

  • Preserves mime/type for rendering (chemical/x-mdl-molfile, image/png…)

SWAPP (Spotfire Web Application for Pipeline Pilot) Improvements

Introduced in the Connector release 5.0, the SWAPP is the result of a co-development with our colleagues at AstraZeneca (see Revvity Nexus 2019 presentation). It allows quick deployment of Pipeline Pilot functionnality to Spotfire users as it automatically generates a web form based on the protocol parameters. The SWAPP also manages the protocol job execution and the integration of the results into the Spotfire document (datatables, rows, columns, pages, visuals, filters settings…),.

Spotfire Web Application for Pipeline Pilot (S.W.A.P.P)

Added in Connector 5.2:

Real Time Synchronization: Two-way synchronization between Spotfire datatables and Pipeline Pilot Data Cache

Advanced form items generation: File upload (with drag & drop option) & Molecular sketchers

Deep links with auto-execution: Generate unique URLs to trigger the execution of a SWAPP protocol
